I thought I’d write a post about what I think about the three “big” fast food chain restaurants that I frequent. All in all, I like the French fries and McDonald’s the best, if I can get them HOT. That has been the biggest problem I’ve had with McDonald’s, the French fries I get are frequently COLD, and then that is disgusting. Their chicken sandwiches are pretty good, too. Their burgers, well, I don’t like them. I’ll eat them if I have to, but I don’t like them. So when I go there I usually order a chicken sandwich and fries.
For burgers, my favorite burgers are Burger King burgers. I LOVE the char-broiled taste! But their fries are pretty nasty, even if they ARE hot. So I’ll order the onion rings instead! They are pretty good, and neither McDonald’s nor Wendy’s sells onion rings. Their chicken products have way too much pepper in them and every time I forget and order some chicken from them I regret it.
Now Wendy’s, I like to go there and order their baked potato! Their burgers are better than McDonalds, and their chicken sandwiches are good, too. Their fries are acceptable, but I do NOT order Sprite to drink because their Sprite is always super NASTY! So I have to order root beer instead, which is ok, but I would prefer Sprite if it tasted the right way! I do wish that Wendy’s had milk shakes, their Frosty’s just are not that great a substitute!

I’ve always held a little bit of a mixed-emotions feeling about Ted Kennedy through the years. I think that the scandal around his female friend drowning years ago in the car accident at Chappaquiddick just always left a sour taste in my mouth.
But, ever since then he has been trying hard to champion the rights of the “common folk” and trying hard to improve our lives as best we can. Since I am ONE of those “common folk” I have to say that I am glad that he has been trying to further our cause. So, I guess I have what one might call a “begrudging” admiration towards him, for his good deeds that he has done SINCE the scandal of the car accident so many years ago.
I was sorry to hear that he has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. I understand that this type of cancer is very difficult to treat and does not have a very high success rate for long-term survival. I do hope that he can beat the odds and recover from this.

I was disappointed, but not surprised when I heard that John Edwards has finally stepped up to the plate and endorsed Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for the Presidential election. I found it interesting that he held back his endorsement for so very long. I remember watching an episode of the Colbert Report a few weeks ago when Clinton, Obama AND Edwards all appeared, and Edwards joked that he would support the candidate that gave him two jet skis. So I wonder if he got his jet skis!
My pragmatic side tells me that John Edwards probably was waiting to see which one was more likely to actually WIN the nomination and then announce his endorsement of that candidate. Perhaps his motive is that he is hoping to be asked to be the Vice Presidential nominee! I don’t know for sure, but that IS my suspicion!

Well, today’s news was about the price of crude oil reaching a new, record-breaking high of $124 per barrel. I’ve been very good (I think) about not using this blog to complain about the price of fuel, but now I am breaking my silence. I am frustrated and discouraged about how expensive it is to buy gasoline nowadays! I don’t make a lot of money at my job, and have been struggling to make ends meet as it is. With the price of gas going up almost on a daily basis it is getting to the point where I just don’t know HOW we are going to make ends meet. We don’t use the car to go anywhere we don’t HAVE to go, we do every “conserve” gas trick in the book, and yet it gets harder every week to find enough money to buy groceries because we are spending so much on gasoline!
I sure hope that they find the answer to our problem quickly. We need to cut our dependence on fossil fuels and start using renewable resources to make biodiesel fuels instead. I’ve seen television shows about some people who have converted their cars to run on used french fry oil! I think that with all of the very smart brainiacs we have in this country, we should be able to come up with a viable solution to this energy crises!

On April 24, a news story was released that an Adolf Hitler was going to be sold in the Ukraine, aimed at children. The news story said that the dolls were Barbie-like in nature, that kids could dress and undress him and pin on medals. There was supposedly even an interchangeable head, where the facial expression was, I think the term was either “kinder” or “gentler” - something like that. Then the story went on to say that if the sales of the doll went well that the manufacturer would expand the line and start selling dolls of his German Shepard dog “Blondie” and model crematoriums.
I think it is interesting that this “Hitler doll” story first came out right around the anniversary of Hitler’s birthday! So it has been discovered that the entire story was a hoax, although I don’t know HOW it was discovered to be a hoax, and several news agencies have had to retract their stories on the doll. I find that very interesting!
