A big deal about nothing

I can’t believe how much the press is making a big deal about Bill Clinton not having spoken to Barack Obama since Hillary withdrew from the Presidential race.  They are acting like they think he is being a sore loser!  I think that perhaps he does not want to interfere with his wife’s chances of becoming the Vice Presidential nominee!  Maybe he is respecting Hillary’s wishes, maybe she asked him to back off for a bit.  I think that the press needs to find something more important to write about and give the poor man a break!  Like the war overseas perhaps???????

Ice on Mars

I think that the exploration of Mars is so cool, it would really be something if the scientists discovered that there is/was/could be life on Mars. I love science fiction books/movies/television shows, and anything that has to do with exploring other planets, looking for signs of some kind of life really excite me! I heard that the space explorer Phoenix has landed on ice; the scientists concluded that photos taken of the “white stuff” show that the “white stuff” is shrinking, which means that it is ice. That is supporting evidence that there really COULD be some kind of “life on Mars.” Very cool!

Earthquake in Japan

My last post was about a large earthquake in Greece, and now I’m posting about an earthquake in Japan! A large earthquake (7.2 on the Richter scale) hit Japan today, killing nine people and injuring 200. I am by no means an expert on anything, but I have to wonder about all of these earthquakes! I thought that there was research being done to help predict these things, is it still so ineffective that we have no clue when and where these things are going to happen? I mean, I understand that there are fault lines, so you have a pretty good idea if you live on a fault line that you will be experiencing an earthquake, but I thought that there were scientists devoted to predicting these things! I wonder what is happening inside the earth to be needing to make these “pressure release” shifts so frequently lately, and I wonder if after five or six of these things if it will settle down for a while; and if so, how long a while. It’s all very puzzling to me!

Large earthquake hits Greece

It seems to me that there have been a lot of earthquakes lately. A large one hit China not too long ago, killing a lot of people and causing a huge amount of damage, and now I’ve heard that a large earthquake (6.1 on the Richter scale) has hit Greece. The reports that I’ve heard so far is that two people are dead, and thirty seven injured. For an earthquake that size, I’m surprised that more people were not badly injured! I heard that it hit southern Greece, but I don’t know how densely populated that area of the country is. I was surprised to learn that Greece is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world! I really didn’t know that!  I’ve heard from a lot of people that Greece is a beautiful country, but now that I’ve found out that it is one of the most earthquake prone countries, I think I’ll just admire photographs from afar!

Barack Obama quit his church

I was hearing on the news that Barack Obama quit his church, the Trinity United Church, after having been a member there for twenty years. I hear that it is because the minister of the church has recently been holding some pretty outrageous services that have caused a lot of controversy over what kind of President Obama would be if he goes to a church and listens (and endorses) the nutty sermons that his minister has been preaching!
I think it is a shame that his minister has chosen to use the limelight that has been thrust into every aspect of Obama’s life to try to father his own personal agendas. He should be ashamed of himself, but apparently he is too self-involved to realize the harm he is doing to Obama with his tirades.
