Sometimes change is good

Have you ever noticed that people tend to resist change?  Research has shown that people who have been abused as children tend to pick out the same type of person that abused them to be their spouse!  How awful is that?  I think primarily it is because they just don’t know how to act in any other situation.  And then there are the people who are very territorial about what seat to sit in at the dinner table, or seat to sit in at a class.  I can remember when I went to school, I liked to change up where I was sitting at different classes.  I just liked to mix it up a little bit.  It sure was funny how many people would get upset about how I had taken “their seat” from a previous class!

The fact is, people reach a comfort zone and don’t like to move from it.  I think that they are just being complacent and lazy.  It takes a little bit of mental effort to adjust to change.  It’s what keeps us young and on our feet!  And sometimes it can enrich our lives, bringing us opportunities and financial benefits.  With that in mind, when your web host contract is about to expire, you might consider changing your web host.  There are so many new companies out there that can offer you different packages and prices.  Some are even devoted to being “green.”  Sometimes change IS good!

Out With The Old, In With The New . . .

I can’t remember the last time I dug deep into the drawers by the phone in an effort to find the local yellowpages. Actually I should take a few moments this weekend and dig all that stuff out of there and dispose of it all properly once and for all. Sounds like a good rainy day weekend project to me lord knows we will be having plenty of those in the near future with winter right at our heels.

If I have the need to find any type of information on one or more of our wonderful local restaurants, I can do a real quick local search, real quick like, on my computer and find all that I would ever need in just a few moments and never even consider locating all the phone books that have been collecting nothing but dust for the past 5 or 6 years. I would like to find the number to call to have them take me off of the list of people that still want and need the old paper version of the yellowpages. I’m into saving as many trees as we possibly can these days.

Cookies – Baked by Sheetz

I have discovered the best cookies ever at out local Sheetz Gas & Convenience Store. What is surprising is that I’m really not all that much into cookies, but some one had me try one a while back and I was totally impressed and hooked at once. It took a while for me to find them. I frequent 4 different Sheetz stores and they are all laid out totally different from each other which makes it a challenge to remember what is where from time to time.

Anyway they have about a half a dozen types of cookies and all of them are good, but the ones to die for are the “Raisin Filled Cookies” Now what is really weird is that I’m not all much into raisins but these suckers are surprisingly delicious and I just had to pass this cool new discovery along. They are packaged under the “Sheetz” label – Bakery-To-Go, 4 oz for 99 cents. Well worth it folks!

Shed a little light on the subject

My wife was talking to me about buying a new Chandelier for our dining area. When we first moved into our house, the dining area had no light fixture at all. Can you imagine? We’ve been making due with some floor lamps in the corners, but that really is not a good long term answer. She found a website that specializes in modern lighting and we were taking a look around to see what was “in fashion” in the world of lighting. There was a cool chandelier by Flos that I really liked, but when she balked at the price tag (over $9,000) I agreed that we could probably find something a little bit more budget friendly.

While looking around on the site, we saw some really cute non-lighting home decor objects by Alessi that really made me laugh. There were some imaginary creatures that worked as toothpick holders and dental floss dispensers, to name a few. Very imaginative indeed! I’ve bookmarked that site to return to for my Christmas gift shopping.

TV Commercials

There are some TV Commercials that just really hit the spot. The first time I saw this one from Subaru it caught me off guard and I found myself getting some what emotional. I know, guys are not supposed to admit those type of feelings but hey I’m only human and I have my moments just like most of us do.

Anyway I just saw the commercial again while I was typing away on my laptop and I decided to see if I could find the commercial online. Just a few moments later – here it is.

Any father who has a daughter just has to think hard about this one.
