My wife and her sister have been talking about starting a marketing business, helping local business people to improve their presences on the Internet. They’ve been tossing around a few ideas about what to call the business, and talking about how much money it will cost to start up the business. My wife came across a website that wrote about how start-up businesses run by women might be eligible for business grants, and she is going to take a look at what they will have to do in order to apply for one.

In this job market, it seems to me that creating your own job just might be a good idea. So many companies are laying off employees, and the few that are hiring are only hiring temporary or part time help so they don’t have to give them any kind of benefits. Becoming self-reliant is a good idea, don’t you agree?

I’ve always had a soft spot for our feathered friends. I keep a pair of binoculars and a bird identification book close at hand so if I spot a bird I haven’t seen before I can get a closer look and try to figure out what it is. From time to time I’m thrilled and blessed to spot a few American Bald Eagles near our house! But sightings like that are few and far between. I mostly see hawks, blue jays, robin red breasts, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, doves, nuthatches, finches and cardinals. Once in a great while I see a Northern Bluebird – what a thrill that is to see that! I see way too many turkey vultures and buzzards for my liking, though, if you know what I mean. I understand that they are a protected species and I know that they have a job to do, but they give me the creeps!

I’d like to put a few Quality birdhouses and birdfeeders in our yard to help care for the birds in our neighborhood. I suspect that if I did that I’d see a lot more of them in the yard a lot more often. I’m just not really sure what is the best kind of birdhouse. I love the colorful and whimsical ones, but I’ve read that the plain ones are more attractive to the birds. What do you think?

Do you know what parthenogenesis means? I didn’t until I read it in an article that was talking about how a second case of asexual reproduction in sharks was documented in Virginia Beach in October of 2008. It seems that a female blacktip shark, having been the only kind of her species in an aquarium, gave birth without benefit of having a mate. The article also mentions that last year a hammerhead shark in a zoo in Omaha also gave birth without benefit of mating.

I found this to be quite fascinating! I knew that there were some animals that could do that, but not sharks! Considering how many people are afraid of sharks, this could be very scary news to some people. I would not be surprised to see this story on the Colbert Report’s threat down!

So many people flocking to the medical field these days makes it to where there is an abundant amount of folks walking around wearing nursing uniforms and medical scrubs. Much like the kind you can find at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/. I’ve been noticing it more and more, like at the gas stations the mall and the at the grocery store, you are likely to see at least one person wearing some type or another of medical uniforms. They have come a long way with different styles, fabrics, patterns and designs, and after all variety is the spice of life.

Some of these medical uniforms that are being seen now-a-days are really attractive and they look like they would be comfortable to wear. The majority of folks that are on their feet (medical personnel certainly stay on their feet all day) are wearing those funky looking crocs/clogs that have been selling like crazy in the last umpteen years or so now. But if it feels good do it, right?

Well my neighborhood Jack who I just recently spoke about being in the nursing profession, has certainly made use of the website of http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ in which I turned him onto to the other week. Apparently he has spread the word all over with his friends and family concerning the issue of purchasing medical nursing uniforms for him as gifts for the up and coming 2011 Christmas holiday. It sounds like a great idea to me, these nursing uniforms are a necessity for anyone in the nursing profession or any medical profession these days. And now that there is a much wide variety of medical uniforms it is a big deal for them to be wearing these uniforms and looking good in them.

It’s so good to see that those old starched white uniforms from the past are dead and gone, it must have been a real drag wearing those darned sterile things day after day after day. Check out the cool holiday prints that they are currently offering there and they are having a sweepstakes going on right now as well. A good resource for our medical professionals.

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about how the paper version of newspapers are obsolete, and that the newspapers are going to go out of business; being replaced by online news. I’d hate to think that were true; I like getting the paper newspaper. I like to take it with me to work, to read on my breaks. I like to take it in the car with me and read when I’m waiting for someone to meet me.

I use the newspaper a lot after the reading is over. I use it to wash my mirrors and windows. I use it to line the carpet to protect it from kitty litter when I’m cleaning the litter box. And, when I have puppies, I use it as an aide to house break them. If I had birds (I used to, but don’t now!) I’d use the newspapers to line their cages.

Veterinarians and animal rescue leagues need used newspapers to line their cages. Schools need newspapers to teach social studies and current events.

I hope that the paper version of the newspaper sticks around for a very long time to come!

It does my heart good to see and know that Jack who lives next door went back to school and became a nurse. Even though he got a late start in life in getting his education he did it and seems to be enjoying his new work. I see him leaving each morning wearing his new nursing scrubs, all nice and clean like and then each evening he comes in looking pretty ragged out, bless his heart. He is apparently working in a pediatric practice and you can just imagine how those kids must be a handful each day for him to be looking so rough.

There seems to be a great selection of these medical scrubs out there these days for folks in the medical field and that our neighbor has purchased numerous variations to wear each day. I found a great medical uniform site at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/that I plan on turning him onto when I see him around his backyard over the weekend. At least he isn’t stuck wearing the same old long lab coat day in and day out like some medical personnel end up wearing. That would be a drag for some one like him that enjoys a variety in their work attire.

I have never been into the smoking of any tobacco product but I certainly know enough people that have held on to this nasty habit for many years. My grandfather always smoked a pipe and I have always enjoyed the smell of a good pipe in the air, but as far as cigarettes goes I have never enjoyed the smell of them indoors or outdoors. My best friend has been a smoker since Junior High and has tried to kick the habit so many times that I have lost count at this point.

I am happy to say that he has now found a new product called the Electronic Cigarette that he is trying out lately. He says that by him using this Electronic Cigarette that he has cut back on the regular cigarettes and hopes to soon cut them out totally by using this Electronic Cigarette that many people are turning to with huge success.

It would be nice see him really put down those coffin nails once and for all. I worry about his health, big time. We have all lost loved ones from lung cancer and I couldn’t bare losing him from this horrible disease.
