I came across this post from 2008 and wondered why I never heard that the car I wrote about below actually coming out onto the market. Do you know if it did or not?
Post from 1/22/2008 below:
I was reading on the Discovery Channel’s website that a new car will be hitting the market later this year. It is a flying car! Basically it is a plane that has wings that can fold up so that you can drive it home and park it in your garage. It will fly for 500 miles on one tank of regular unleaded gas! Now I think this is a really awesome creation, and I’d love to have one! (I’d also like to get one of those car-boat things that were sold back in the 60s! – oh, and a hovercraft!)
Anyway, it will retail for (are you sitting down?) $194,000! I think I’ll have to wait a few decades for the price to come down! But it sure would be really awesome to own one of them!

I’ve always had a soft spot for our feathered friends. I keep a pair of binoculars and a bird identification book close at hand so if I spot a bird I haven’t seen before I can get a closer look and try to figure out what it is. From time to time I’m thrilled and blessed to spot a few American Bald Eagles near our house! But sightings like that are few and far between. I mostly see hawks, blue jays, robin red breasts, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, doves, nuthatches, finches and cardinals. Once in a great while I see a Northern Bluebird – what a thrill that is to see that! I see way too many turkey vultures and buzzards for my liking, though, if you know what I mean. I understand that they are a protected species and I know that they have a job to do, but they give me the creeps!
I’d like to put a few Quality birdhouses and birdfeeders in our yard to help care for the birds in our neighborhood. I suspect that if I did that I’d see a lot more of them in the yard a lot more often. I’m just not really sure what is the best kind of birdhouse. I love the colorful and whimsical ones, but I’ve read that the plain ones are more attractive to the birds. What do you think?

The Internet can be very useful for the elderly if they know the right places to look. Networking sites like Facebook and Myspace can be used to meet people with similar interests. Many websites can help seniors get the products they need at a much lower price than they could in normal retail outlets. You can find miracle ear hearing aids prices and reviews. Powerscooter.com can give them the information they need to get a mobility scooter. Any elderly person who is feeling lonely can go to littlebrothers.org to be matched up with someone who would be happy to keep them company. The seniors.lovetoknow.com is a site that has much information about caring for the elderly. It includes knowledge of financial planning, assisted living, fashion, senior services, athletic activities, medical insurance and health.
If someone is looking for information on the best place to retire bestretirementspots.com, and bestretirementdestinations.com have tons of information. Search engine sites like yahoo, Webcrawler, and Google may be used to find any sort of information that anyone could ever need, all that is required is the knowledge to use these sites. Information on life and health insurance as well as the latest miracle ear can also easily be found using a search engine, with quotes being given in minutes. The internet is a tool that can be used by the elderly to get goods and services that would not otherwise be easily available to them and at a time when medical health care insurance is a must.

For once, I’m not going to have to worry about which pie I’m fixing for our huge family gathering for Thanksgiving Day. I always wonder about that because my family is all about the pies and I like to make sure that we have no repeats. But instead of doing the normal thing for Thanksgiving this year, I’m going to take my family to see the Thanksgiving Day parade!
It’s something that I’ve thought about doing for a few years now, but I finally decided to just go ahead and do it before the kids get a little older and have other things that they need to do during the Thanksgiving break. I was online a few months ago booking our hotel and everything for it when I ran across some information on getting a hearing aid. That’s also something that I’d been thinking about for a while, so I decided to go ahead and get fitted before the big trip.
I think that we’re going to have so much fun with the parade and I just want to make sure that we’re all ready for the trip and pack everything. It’s going to be a whirlwind of a trip, but I think that it’s going to be amazing!

When asked what my favorite home style cooking restaurant is I always have to say that it’s Cracker Barrel, they serve breakfast all day and all night, so people who like to (or get to) sleep in late can still have pancakes when they go out to eat. They also have daily specials of comfort foods, like baked chicken, meatloaf, pot roast. My favorite day for specials is Thursday – it is real roasted turkey with dressing.
I like to poke around in the gift shop – they change the merchandise out often and there are always plenty of new items to look at and and coo over. Sometimes while waiting for an empty table in the dining room we will sit out on the big front porch and rock in the wood and rattan chairs that they sell.
