I came across this post from 2008 and wondered why I never heard that the car I wrote about below actually coming out onto the market. Do you know if it did or not?

Post from 1/22/2008 below:

I was reading on the Discovery Channel’s website that a new car will be hitting the market later this year. It is a flying car! Basically it is a plane that has wings that can fold up so that you can drive it home and park it in your garage. It will fly for 500 miles on one tank of regular unleaded gas! Now I think this is a really awesome creation, and I’d love to have one! (I’d also like to get one of those car-boat things that were sold back in the 60s! – oh, and a hovercraft!)

Anyway, it will retail for (are you sitting down?) $194,000! I think I’ll have to wait a few decades for the price to come down! But it sure would be really awesome to own one of them!

I’ve always had a soft spot for our feathered friends. I keep a pair of binoculars and a bird identification book close at hand so if I spot a bird I haven’t seen before I can get a closer look and try to figure out what it is. From time to time I’m thrilled and blessed to spot a few American Bald Eagles near our house! But sightings like that are few and far between. I mostly see hawks, blue jays, robin red breasts, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, doves, nuthatches, finches and cardinals. Once in a great while I see a Northern Bluebird – what a thrill that is to see that! I see way too many turkey vultures and buzzards for my liking, though, if you know what I mean. I understand that they are a protected species and I know that they have a job to do, but they give me the creeps!

I’d like to put a few Quality birdhouses and birdfeeders in our yard to help care for the birds in our neighborhood. I suspect that if I did that I’d see a lot more of them in the yard a lot more often. I’m just not really sure what is the best kind of birdhouse. I love the colorful and whimsical ones, but I’ve read that the plain ones are more attractive to the birds. What do you think?

A couple of months ago I decided to buy a couple of tomato plants. I’ve never grown tomatoes before, and I didn’t know what to expect. I planted beefsteak tomatoes, and they are ripening at a good comfortable pace so that we are not overwhelmed with fresh tomatoes. I never expected fresh tomatoes picked out of our garden and eaten the same day would have so much great flavor! My wife is surprised that I’m eating them because whenever we go to a restaurant and get a salad I order it without tomatoes, proclaiming that I don’t like tomatoes! Well, now I’ve decided that I like them a lot, but it will be hard for a restaurant to come up with tomatoes that taste as good as what I’ve got growing right outside my door!

I always wanted to be a spy while growing up. My favorite books and movies were spy movies, James Bond, Agent 007 was my hero and I have every James Bond made on tape and still enjoy watching them a couple times a year. I have found a really cool website brickhousesecurity.com that I have bookmarked and wanted to share here on my blog to other people that are interested in today’s security technologies and other goodies that they offer here.

I used to think that Key logger was a pretty cool idea, but wait until you see what they have here for their spy ware products. I would love to be able to see what other folks are doing on their computers, it would have to be pretty simple for me to figure out and their product seems to be just that.

They also have, stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance equipment, GPS trackers, child safety equipment and so much more that is just fascinating to a guy like me. So if you are interested in seeing what is out there this is a good site to visit and pass on to others. It’s all good.

My siblings and I have finally decided on all going in on a trip to Myrtle Beach for this year’s Christmas present to the folks. We are going to find them one of the new Myrtle Beach best hotels that is right on the beach and one that has good golf packages that we know that they will appreciate and enjoy. The Horizon Resort at 77th gets my vote. I’ve done some research on these Myrtle Beach hotel packages and I think The Horizon is top notch, while still affordable, if we all pitch in as promised.

The Horizon has indoor and outdoor pools, hut tubs, over 80 golf courses to offer. It only opened two years ago, in 2008 and is doing well for itself right in the heart of Myrtle Beach. They have a user friendly website, http://www.horizonmyrtlebeach.com that can fill the other siblings in on what I’m voting for.We don’t have much time left, so doing all of this online is going to be a time saver all the way around. My parents will certainly be happy with this year’s Christmas gift, I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to play a few rounds of golf in the Myrtle Beach South Carolina area.

This has been a most pleasant Labor Day three day weekend holiday. You just couldn’t ask for better weather, and the weather can make or break your holidays, so we lucked out big time with the temperatures in the high 70′s with a cool breeze every now and then.

There is one flea market I went to today that is open each Saturday and Sunday, all year round, along with the few Mondays that are legal holidays such as today as well as the 4th of July and Memorial Day. It’s a big flea market and it takes time to walk around and take it all in. Most of the vendors there are friendly and I enjoy spending the day visiting them all, checking out their wares and to their tales, business and personal issues alike.

Dan has been selling media products there for as long as I can remember. He has a permanent booth, over flowing with old records, of all speeds, 8 tracks, cassettes, DVD’s, CD’s and Video Games up the wazoo. But he always has this one display case that he keeps his real treasures tucked away in, his silver and gold pieces. There is a lot of buying and selling of silver and golds these past few years and he wants his hands in the kettle along with everyone else’s.

So Dan spent a good 45 minutes or so telling me all about what he has been learning online about his newest interest which is all about bullion. He is researching the best way to buy gold bullion and using the Internet to his advantage with so many options out there these days for things such as this. Like I said, he kept my attention for almost an hour and then I’m sure my eyes were starting to glaze over at this point with the key words,”buy bullion” and “gold bullion” being repeated over and over. I’d had enough and wanted to move on to the tables and booths that I hadn’t seen yet, the clock was ticking and there was still so much that I wanted to see.

I’m thankful for the customer that came in just in time to distract him in an effort to make a sale and I bid him a quick farewell and got myself out of there. Dan is a great guy but my goodness he would ramble on for hours, non stop and quick like if he had his way!

Cruising around online last night I was checking out some of the more popular game sites. I don’t play many games online but on occasion I will have a bit of time on my hands and feel the urge. You don’t see many girl games, or at least you didn’t use to. I stumbled onto a site easygirlgames.com that is chock full of girl games. I sent the link to my 10 year old niece that has her own computer and may enjoy some of the girl games that they have offered and listed there.

I remember that there was a major push about 6 years ago in an effort to get more games that would appeal to the female population, girls in particular. I haven’t paid that much attention to it to tell you the truth but I do know that there seems to be a good effort from the gaming companies to fulfill this need.
