The woman next door went back to school and became a nurse. Even though she got a late start in life in getting her education she did it and is enjoying her new work. We see her leaving each morning wearing her new nursing scrubs, all nice and clean like and then each evening she comes in looking pretty ragged out, bless her heart. She is apparently working in a pediatric practice and those kids must be a handful each day for her to be looking so rough.
I have to say that there seems to be a great selection of these medical scrubs out there these days for folks in the medical field and that our neighbor has purchased numerous variations to wear each day. I feel for her, working so hard each day but doing her best to look good and cheerful each and every work day. At least she isn’t stuck wearing the same old lab coat day in and day out like some medical personnel end up wearing. That would be a drag for some one like her that enjoys a variety in their work attire.
I have just recently really started to use coupons when I shop. It is a major chore for me but the savings are worth the time and effort of the whole ordeal. Last night I went to the grocery store and remembered to bring my coupons and saved over $20 for the effort!
They say that variety is the spice of life. I guess that that is a good thing, but these days we seem to have so many varieties of most things that it can be a challenge to make a decision on some things. I have been looking at the choices of enclosed bulletin boards to use in my office, but I had no idea how many types of enclosed bulletin boards that they make these days. It’s like going to the grocery store to buy a can of spagettii sauce, thinking you can just run in and grab a can, only to find that there are over 20 varieties of spagettii sauce to pick from. It can be frustrating at times.
At enclosedbulletinboards.com they hve a huge selection of enclosed bulletin boards. So if you are looking for at enclosed cork bulletin boards or enclosed fabric bulletin boards they have them there folks. They offer free shipping, quick delivery and they accept PayPal which is something that I always look for.
My wife and I like to think that we are not stupid. We’ve signed up for Online Trading for the stocks we own, and we each have IRA Accounts. We try to be conservative, however, with our Stock Trading activities. We’ve been burned a little bit a couple of times, and we really can’t afford to lose very much money.
The most confusing part about owning stocks (to me) is how to go about reporting the profits, losses, and dividends on our income taxes! I’m really glad that we have a great software program that keeps track of all of that. I’d never be able to keep it all straight if I had to keep track of it on paper! And I’m more than happy to let my wife take care of that portion of our financial life! I tell my wife that’s why I keep her around – to do the bookkeeping! (And her cooking’s pretty good too!)
More and more people are losing their jobs and homes and the news is full of horrible stories about many of these poor folks that are being forced to leave their homes and are abandoning their pets. That is just wrong. It is just as bad as leaving a pet in a hot car during these hot summer months. Wake up folks!
State Farm is really pushing their “Neighbor” campaign. It seems that at least 4 times an hour we are being told by the State Farm Rep to talk to our neighbors and see if they have State Farm. And if it isn’t State Farm, we are watching Progressive’s aggressive campaign with their dingy acting and looking female spokes person. So much insurance with so little time and/or money.
I hear from a few friends that DSI Solutions is offering some good quality credit repair services. Word of mouth is still the way to go for me, with so many bogus scams going on and off of the Internet. Times are still trying for most people. So many lives have been destroyed by the economy issue that our government has gotten us all into. Most people I know haven’t seen any thing or positive happen with their lives and careers. There are still tons of “For Sale” signs all over the lawns in all the neighborhoods all across the country. The unemployment numbers are still staggering and there doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of this long dark tunnel.
If I were to take on the task of having to improve credit, I would certainly ask around before jumping in with both feet. So far I’ve managed to stay ahead of the game, but it could turn ugly at any moment; you never know these days. Each day we never know if it is our last at my place of employment. Pink slips are still showing up here and there and no one wants to be called into the manager’s office for fear that they will be walking out carrying that little pink piece of paper!
I never knew that there were so many types of insurance policies offered these days. When I think of insurance, I think of home, auto and life – that’s about it. When I stopped in at my agent’s office last week, to pay my monthly bill, I had to wait a few minutes for assistance and was reduced to sitting in the waiting room longer than normal. I didn’t have a book to read, nor did they have any magazines to keep me occupied while waiting, so I picked up a few of their brochures and was surprised to see the variety of policies that you can purchase as of late.
When I got home I took a few minutes to look online at some different insurance sites and found myself looking at an insurance company located in Australia. They have even more of a variety of policies than I found at my agent’s office. They have guardian income insurance, policies that you can buy for funeral cover costs, interesting, to say the least. I also read that accident cover policies seem to be popular in the “Land Down Under” as well, it seems that 14 males and 7 females every day in Australia due to accidental deaths, so having a good insurance agent with good insurance policies seems the way to go for those folks.
I guess insurance is a necessity all over the world these days.
I have to admit that video game companies have really taken gaming to new heights – with games that you compete and cooperate with other people via multiple player games on the Internet. What a huge evolution from the very first Pong game that I remember buying back in the 1970′s when I was a teenager! (Now I’m showing my age, I’m sure!)
But now people are even setting up websites where you can Buy WoW Accounts to get a jump start on your game and Sell Aion Accounts to cash in on your expertise. Who would’ve thought that you could actually make money legally playing video games that didn’t involve gambling! I’m curious to see what the video gaming companies come up with next! It should be interesting, that is for sure!
I can remember that when I was child that I had to do chores and errands to earn an allowance. I had to mow and rake lawns, deliver newspapers, wash cars, take out the trash, weed the gardens, and even baby sit if I wanted to earn any money. There was no such thing as easy and fast money for me. Life was not easy; if I didn’t do the work, I didn’t get any money at all. Now I read in various parenting magazines that children are supposed to be given an allowance even if they don’t do any chores to earn the money! The experts claim that giving the children an allowance will help the children learn to budget their money wisely. These same experts offer the advice that the children should get at least $20 to $25 a week for an allowance as a minimum!
Personally, I think that if the children don’t earn the money through chores, they will never learn the true value of money. You don’t really appreciate anything if you don’t have to work for it! If our children are being raised this way, thinking that they are entitled to an allowance simply be virtue of existing, and don’t have to work at all for it, then these same children will be non-productive employees when they enter the workforce. With the unemployment situation we are experiencing right now, these children will be hard pressed to keep a job; no employer wants to hire people who don’t want to work for their paycheck!
And I think that these are the same people who are going to be irresponsible with their money and get some sort of payday loan, (instant gratification) then default on it. I think that this sets a dangerous precedence. We need to teach our kids to delay their gratification.
When my hubby was injured in my car accident in 2007, I tried to get my mortage company for our house in New England that we were trying to sell to grant me a hardship forebearance. Since he wasn’t able to work due to my injuries, I was hopeful to get some empathy from the company. Boy, was I wrong!
Long story short, the mortgage company has dropped the ball and tossed me around from department to department, where I have been met with gross incompetence at every turn.
After over two years, even though we FINALLY did a deed-in-lieu with the company last November, and the deed to the house was transferred into their name in December the company is continuing to send me notices that I owe them the money and the company is still sending notices to the credit agencies that the mortgage is overdue. This is resulting in credit card companies closing my credit cards or lowering my credit limits.
Every time I call Bank of America I am shuttled around from department to department, and told the matter will be escalated and someone will call me back within the next week. That never happens. I have called them about once every two weeks, and nothing is resolved. I have sent them letters, and I get replies that someone will contact me within 20 days, and that never happens either! I got collection calls several times a day for years on end until I finally blocked their telephone number!
As of today, I have been on the phone with Bank of America for the past four hours, being shuttled around from department to department, trying to find some help. I’m on hold at the moment, waiting for a supervisor to talk to me. The lady I just spoke with said that my account was in the process of being assigned to someone in the home retention department!
I have contacted my state senator Mark Warner’s office, asking for help a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t heard back from them yet.
Anyone know a good lawyer that would like to sue this company on my behalf to get this resolved and maybe some punitive damages for emotional distress it is causing? I had hired a lawyer that I was told is an agressive lawyer that loves to sue people, but for some reason he just doesn’t seem to be in the mood to take this on! If you know of a class-action suit going on for people in situations like this, or know a good lawyer that could/would help me, please post comment to this blog and I’ll get the information!
I have to say that I’m apalled at what is going on with the big oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico! This so-called state of the art oil platform filled with fail-safe measured blew up. Millions of gallons of oil leaking into the Gulf. The environmental damage that is going to result is mind-boggling! Although I’ve been too busy to follow all the news carefully, I am aware that this is a big disaster, and I have to wonder just how much damage is actually going to happen. Notwithstanding the environmental damage, I have to wonder exactly how much money this is going to cost the taxpayers and the consumers in the end. Although the environment seems to be recovering, this could be a major setback to the recovery. And all most of us can do is sit and wait, watch and hope.
Some times our Federal Government does something that actually makes sense and is a good thing for all involved. It seems weird to be saying that, but I’m glad that I am honestly able to say it this time around. I’m speaking of the newest extension of the “Home Buyers Tax Credit” There is a good video on Coldwell Bankers web site that I took the time to embed here.
The more knowledge that someone is armed with, the better consumer they will end up becoming. Having something like a $6,500 tax credit available is something worth checking into, wouldn’t you say? This tax credit has made a major impact on the recovery efforts of our whacked out and extremely screwed up economy. And there are still plenty of homes on the market at “way cheap” prices that so many people could end up getting some really decent deals.
I know several people that have recently become first time home owners because of this bill and they couldn’t be happier about the tax credit. Now that it has been extended even more folks might be able to live the American Dream. It’s all about the money, always has been, always will be, sigh…….
One of the things that concerns me about the world is how many things are “out there” being used that are really dangerous for us that we don’t know about! I keep seeing commercials on television about how asbestos can cause Malignant Mesothelioma. These commercials are usually encouraging the viewer to hire a particular Mesothelioma Lawyer to help them with medical expenses and get some form of restitution.
I think that it is a sad commentary on today’s society that an individual would have to hire a Mesothelioma Attorney to try to get some justice. Why isn’t the AMA or Uncle Sam taking some large action to stop the production and sale of asbestos and providing free legal help to these people, so that they don’t have to go through the heartache and overwhelming work of the legal process themselves? Seems to me that there should be an easier way to help these victims out!
I’ve been considering looking into one of those payday loans so that I can buy my wife a very pretty diamond necklace and earring set that she’s been mooning over from the local jewelry store. I hate to borrow any money for anything, in this tight economy, but she has made a lot of sacrifices for me over the past few years, and I’d like to surprise her with something special for Valentine’s Day. It was on a Valentine’s Day that I proposed to her!
I have to admit that one of the reasons that these kinds of loans are tempting is that so many of them don’t require any credit check. Recently I heard that having too many credit checks on your record can actually hurt your credit rating! I had just got a copy of my credit report and saw that all of my creditors ran a fresh inquiry on my credit last month, and I found that disconcerting. And a lot of employers are doing credit checks now too! I don’t know how or why it is any employer’s business what my credit rating is! So if I can get a loan without any credit check, I think that might be a good idea.
If the television news can be believed, the average American family is drowning in debt! I was reading an article in a magazine recently that many people are now starting to fall behind on their mortgages rather than fall behind on their credit cards! That flies in the face of traditional debt management techniques. Seems to me that one would take a good hard look at getting some debt counseling before deciding to fall behind on any of those creditor accounts!
Having to choose which bill to pay, and which one to let slide is never an easy choice. One has to take a look at what would you really lose if you don’t make the payments? If I were in that position, I’d put the local accounts, such as dentists, lawyers, and entertainment services on the back burner and let them slide a little bit. Many of those professionals that allow you to make payments will let you skip a payment or two if you call them up and explain your situation to them. In many cases doctors and lawyers will agree to taking a smaller monthly amount and not charge you any late fees.
When my wife was going through her troubles with her first husband, her lawyer let her pay in small amounts and often let her skip payments for a few months if things were bad. So my advice is to take a hard look at which accounts can slide, and which can’t.
I heard that they are now saying that over 200 thousand people have lost their lives due to the earthquake in Haiti. That is an amazingly high number of lives lost due to Mother Nature being pissed of! It is good to hear of all of the money that is being raised to help the victims, people pulling together is always a good thing. We need more of that in our daily lives, we’d all be better off.
My wife asked me yesterday what I’d like to do if we could get a loan to do anything we wanted to do. I gave her a funny look and told her that the only loan we could get right now would be one of those emergency loans that we see advertised on television that I’d really like to stay away from! She sighed and said, no I’m talking about what would you want to buy if we had the money to use for fun! She said the sky’s the limit!
After the first blush of buying a new John Deere tractor and a new Corvette, and a new wide screen television, I think that I’d like to build a custom made full sized storybook style castle. Of course it would have to have modern amenities and be energy efficient, but I’d love to have a full moat and drawbridge, turrets, courtyards, and great halls for entertaining and dancing.
Of course the castle would have the most modern professional commercial kitchen, with propane range tops. I’d love to have windmills nearby to generate power! It would be decorated with gold leaf thrones and lush purple velvet. Only the finest tapestries and carpets. Inside the castle would also be an atrium with a wonderful spa pool to relax in.
Of course no castle would be complete without stables and fine horses and coaches.
Then I’d like to host Medieval Renaissance Fairs there every year. I’d love to see some jousting tournaments in my very own courtyard! And we could make some money by renting out the halls for weddings, parties and events. Maybe even turn it into a Bed and Breakfast! What a hoot that would be!
Do you have a favorite flavor of ice cream? I’m not sure that I do. I really like a variety of flavors. Lately my favorite is a pecan caramel praline flavor by Bryers. The grocery store that I shop at doesn’t always carry that flavor, so when I find it I often buy several cartons of it. I have never quite figured out why the price of ice cream fluctuates so much – it is almost as volatile as gasoline! One week it will be almost $6 for the carton, then a few weeks later it will be less than half that price! I find it very aggravating – when it is really expensive I won’t buy it. I wonder if everyone shops that way and that is perhaps the reason why every couple of weeks the price drops!
I think it is rather sad that so many people are struggling to make ends meet. It wasn’t very long ago that the college business courses were teaching that businesses were going to have to become more accommodating towards their employees, making concessions to people who wanted to work on their terms. For example, accommodating young families by providing parental leave, and providing day care. But now it seems that people are scrambling hard for jobs and that the companies have the upper hand, not the labor force at all!
Sadly, the way unemployment figures are calculated seriously misrepresents how many people are really out of work. There are a lot more unemployed people out in society than the official numbers. Many of these unemployed people are starting to become desperate for rapid cash and are turning to quick loan services that charge extremely high fees and interest rates. And credit card companies are making it harder for consumers as well; slapping on new fees and increasing their credit rates.
I would like to strongly encourage anyone who is considering taking out a loan against their cars or paychecks to read all of the fine print and be very aware of the terms and conditions of the loan. If you are not careful you may end up in debt forever!
