The Author of this post is Solomon Dejesus

I think that I have decided to get a new credit card. My favorite store, Ann Taylor, has started offering free shipping off of their website if you use your Ann Taylor credit card. I have only had one credit card since I was sixteen years old. My parents always warned me never to get a credit card. They said that I should only use it for emergencies. They said that if I couldn’t buy something straight out, I didn’t need it. Anyway, I always use my clear wireless internet Reading connection to log onto Ann Taylor.com and do some shopping. They usually have a greater variety of sizes and have great sales. The shipping though is usually a flat ten dollars and fifty cents. That really is a pretty good bit of money. Unless I am going to order a lot of things ( over hundred and fifty dollars worth), ordering on-line doesn’t really make sense to me. I think that I am going to think really hard about getting the credit card. I think that I will use it a lot, get free shipping, and can turn around and pay off my account as soon as I use the card.

My wife and her sister have been talking about starting a marketing business, helping local business people to improve their presences on the Internet. They’ve been tossing around a few ideas about what to call the business, and talking about how much money it will cost to start up the business. My wife came across a website that wrote about how start-up businesses run by women might be eligible for business grants, and she is going to take a look at what they will have to do in order to apply for one.

In this job market, it seems to me that creating your own job just might be a good idea. So many companies are laying off employees, and the few that are hiring are only hiring temporary or part time help so they don’t have to give them any kind of benefits. Becoming self-reliant is a good idea, don’t you agree?

Around this time of year I like to go to the local craft store and buy new calendars for the new Year coming up. A few years ago I just happened to be in one of the craft stores around this same time of year and found that they sold a huge variety of high quality calendars for under $5.00 each. A lot of them were only $1 or $2 each! When I found them I bought quite a few of them to give out to my friends and family as Christmas gifts. I think that is a great bargain because when I go to many department stores, or stationary stores, or gift stores, they sell the exact same type of calendars for $15 to $20 each!

So I will make a point of going to the craft store before now and Christmas and pick up a few calendars!

It does my heart good to see and know that Jack who lives next door went back to school and became a nurse. Even though he got a late start in life in getting his education he did it and seems to be enjoying his new work. I see him leaving each morning wearing his new nursing scrubs, all nice and clean like and then each evening he comes in looking pretty ragged out, bless his heart. He is apparently working in a pediatric practice and you can just imagine how those kids must be a handful each day for him to be looking so rough.

There seems to be a great selection of these medical scrubs out there these days for folks in the medical field and that our neighbor has purchased numerous variations to wear each day. I found a great medical uniform site at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/that I plan on turning him onto when I see him around his backyard over the weekend. At least he isn’t stuck wearing the same old long lab coat day in and day out like some medical personnel end up wearing. That would be a drag for some one like him that enjoys a variety in their work attire.

I don’t think that I’m alone when it comes to going out shopping and hating every minute of it. I would rather be doing anything, including raking leaves, rather than have to go out to the many retail stores in town and dealing with all of the issues that go along with that task. If I need something then I’ll send the wife out or I’ll find it online and have it delivered to my door, simple as that.

Right now I am in the need of some new mens clothing and I have found several sites that I’ve taken a liking to and will be doing some business with real soon like. At Aeropostale.com this weekend they offer free shipping on orders of $100 or more and they also have a ton of good stuff on clearance that by using the code of TAKE50 will get you 50% off. Now that is the type of shopping that I can enjoy and handle without losing my cool with some irate sales associate or dealing with Joe Public that don’t want to be out shopping either!

One of my sisters has an eight year old grandson is always losing his eyeglasses. Seems like he wears them to school and morning and when he comes home they have disappeared. If I had a child that was always losing his glasses I would buy one of those the elastic bands that hook on to the ear pieces of the glasses and is then wrapped around the head so they would not fall off in the first place! From what I understand the child has attention deficit disorder which means that the child will struggle with short term memory forever. No wonder the poor kid is always losing his glasses!

What really surprises me is how much money my sister spends on replacement glasses for him – she is always complaining that the the new glasses always cost over $100.00 each time! I know I’ve told her in the past about the zenni optical web site where she can get replacement glasses for under $20.00 each pair! The last time she posted on face book that he had lost his glasses again and she had to buy a new pair I reminded her about that web site and suggested that she just go ahead and buy a couple of spare pars from that web site to keep at the house for future use.at the

My parents are now finally trying to learn how to use the Internet. Almost all of their friends are using it to email friends and family and to receive and share photographs that are so easy to see all year round instead of waiting for random visits, family get-to-gethers and holidays. But my folks have fought entering the 21st century and a lot of the technology that is coming out along with it, so I am very pleased to hear that they are now at least trying.

They all ready have had Direct TV for some time now and we were all in a state of shock when we went over there to find Dad kicking back watching one of the many sport channels that they offer their subscribers. He finally threw away the old rabbit ears and joined the billions of people that are now be offered more channels than they could ever want or need.

Now they are looking into finding a good home security system to have installed in their home. There have been a rash of home break ins in their neighborhood and it has got them a bit spooked. Of course Dad is sure that his shot gun can take care of anyone breaking into the house, but Mom has talked him into using more modern and legal methods. So they went online and typed in “home security huntsville” and came up with a few options that they are now seriously looking into.

These are all good positive things that are going on with them and I’m really proud of both of them.
